A335: Fromm Combo Tool for Steel

The A335 is a versatile steel strapping combination tool from Fromm. This is a great tool for all kinds of applications. It is also popular because it is a combination tool and saves a lot of time for the operator. Combination tools are the most convenient tools in the industry as they do the work of tensioning, sealing and cutting in one go. It is also cost effective for the industry.

The A335 is also a seal less strapping tool, and this tool has a great joint efficiency when compared to other similar tools. The A335 is also very light, rugged and easy to operate. The tool can be preset for ½”, 5/8” or ¾” steel strapping. This tool can run both regular and high tensile steel strapping. It also prevents minor loss of tension to allow heavy duty strapping applications where seal strength is of great importance.

The A335 also uses advanced technology and can be adjusted to accommodate exact strap measurements of varying thicknesses to create the strongest seal possible. This tool has a greater joint efficiency than a manual sealing tool. The advantage of the A335 is that during transportation, even if the joint loses tension, the seal does not unlock. This makes shipment safer and easier and the sender and receiver can be rest assured that the package will reach the destination safely.

Specification

  • Strap Type: High tensile (Ultraflex) up to 1100 N/mm- 240 lbs/in.
  • Strap Qualities: 1/2″, 5/8″, 3/4″ x 0.020″- 0.023″
  • Sealing Type: Sealless
  • Weight: 8.6 pounds / 3.9 kg

With one of the highest joint efficiencies among packing tools, in the market, the Fromm A335 holds 80% joint efficiency. It is made of high quality steel as the  ground feedwheel and ground gripper provide extra efficiency. The long steel handles allow simpler operation for the user.

The A335 has a pneumatic counterpart from Signode, which fits all the strapping qualifications of tool. The PNSC-2 from Signode is a quality tool that user pusher seals and pulls 700 pounds of tension. For an upgrade to an even simper solution pneumatic tools can be used. Running in the power of compressed air pneumatic tools are also powerful and quick. The only disadvantage being the air lines running around the floor.

For a pneumatic sealless combination option, the Columbia INCA 12, INCA HT 16, and INCA HT 19 can also be used which accommodates the same steel strapping sizes as the A335. The INCA tools can reduce cost even more than the PNSC-2 as they apply a sealless joint using friction to create the seal between two pieces of poly strapping.

Grip Pack Steel Strapping Tensioner

The Grip Pack Tensioner is another innovative tool from Signode. It is battery powered and fast. It is a perfect match with the Grip Pack 114 Sealer tool. The Grip Pack Tensioner uses the 18V Bosch battery that uses lithium ion and is considered the best battery in recent times.

The Grip Pack Tensioner is a pusher style strapping tool. It has a duck billed noses and this is used to push the seal and pull the tension. This tool can be easily partnered with the Grip Pack 114 sealer. Battery powered tools are the most convenient tools today, in terms of efficiency and speed. This increase the productivity in the industry and also ensures a safe and secure package.

The Grip Pack tensioner eliminates the cost of air lines that is mostly used in pneumatic tools. It hinders the operators work as it runs around the work room floor. Even though the air lines are eliminated, it provides the same services provided by its pneumatic counterpart. Battery operated tools save a lot in terms of cost and that is the reason many industries have now switched over to battery operated tools.

Specifications

  • Strapping: Magnus or Apex Plus Steel strapping
  • Strapping size: ¾” -1-1/4”x 0.025” to 0.031(19mm – 33mm x 0.64mm- 0.80mm)
  • Tension: adjustable from 800 lbs to 1500 lbs (3600 N to 6670N)
  • Weight: 3.8 kgs (8.5 pounds)

Even when compared to manual tools, the battery operated tools are lighter in weight and can be carried around easily and this virtually eliminates operator fatigue. Another great feature of this tool is that it can pull 1500 pounds of tension. Many people are surprised that such a light weight tool can pull such heavy tension. The reason that such tension can be pulled is due to the presence of the lithium ion battery which is very powerful and a valued addition to the tool.

The battery allows the maximum tension with just the squeeze of the handle. The great feature of this battery is that one charge can complete about 120 strapping cycles. Also, the battery gets charged quickly in under 20 minutes and so there is virtually less waiting time for the battery to get charged. The Grip Pack battery and charger are sold separately.

This is a great tool brought out by Signode and has become a staple in many industries and also quite popular.

PNSC-2 – Single Notch Sealer

The PNSC-2 is largely used for high tensile strapping and is used to strap round or irregular shaped packages. This tool also uses the reverse notch sealer and is very light in weight. Being light in weight is a big advantage of this tool as the operator does not get tired carrying the tool through the work place.

Weighing 9.5 pounds, this tool uses it duck bill nose to push the seal. It has a feedwheel that pulls tension and has wider jaws to notch the seal in a full combination sequence. The PNSC-2 applies about 700 pounds of tension to steel strapping and a very easy to operate tool. It has a two button control system. After each strapping cycle, the strap slides out easily. It is a very durable tool. Composed out of metal alloys, this tool is able to withstand exposure to extreme conditions and very reliable that it does not break down.

While operating any strapping tool, safety precautions should be followed to avoid risk of any injury. Safety goggles are a must and a safe distance should be maintained from the tool and the cargo. Fist the strap is threaded through the seal and the strap is wrapped around the load.

Excess slack should be removed and the opposite end should be pulled back through the seal over the top of the original strap. The tool should be held in one hand and the strap should be held in the other. The lever should then be lifted and the strapping should be slid in. Slide the tool forward as much as possible in order to make sure there is tight tensioning. Once the desired level I reached, the tool will be shut off automatically. Press the sealing button to complete the sealing process. Cut the strap and then release the tool.

The PNSC-2 is available in three sizes.

PNSC 2-12: 1/2″ (12.7mm) x 0.017-0.023″ (0.43-0.58mm) Seal .5 Inch Push Seal

PNSC 2-58: 5/8″ (15.9mm) x 0.017-0.023″ (0.43-0.58mm) Seal .625 Inch Push Seal

PNSC 2-34: 3/4″ (19.0mm) x 0.017-0.025″ (0.43-0.64 34mm) Seal .75 Inch Push Seal  or .75 Inch Heavy Duty Push Seal

The tool is easy to use, but with a single notch seal, 50% of the strength is lost.
